Weekend Scrapping

In the weekend I took part in the inaugural cybercrop over at Papercraft Addictions. The girls posed some great challenges that were really inspiring. I still have two to complete and hope to do them this week.

Caz gave us a Scraplift Challenge...this gorgeous layout was created by Sam Hauzer

And this is my layout:

Julz's posed a "Something Old, Something New Challenge". We had to use old photos, a new technique and have something blue. These photos of a rather seedy DS#3 were taken a year ago when he was a hair model for a mate's sister. She gave him a diagonal mohawk that was red and black striped! Quite a bit of dutch courage was needed to get him up on the catwalk.

My new technique was to distress the cardstock directly behind the photos using ranger inks, perfect pearls and Tim Holtz stamps. I was delighted with the end result.

Trish gave us an OTP challenge. It was to use one piece of patterned paper, 2 types of ribbon, 3 flowers or similar and 4 distinct colours.

I decided to get in and make something for one of my boys' for Christmas

Year One Minischool

Last week Nathan and I were in Longreach for his Year one minischool......and boy did the kids have awonderful week! The theme for the week was Community Helpers and with the help of Boris Bear (a big teddy) the kids had quite a number of excursions. Boris has been clowning around on the bunk beds when he had a tumbled and was taken to hospital by ambulance. The kids went to visit him at the hospital later that day and brought him back to the Quarters. He had a splint on one leg and a bandaged head. The next day Boris was spotted on the roof of the fire station. A fireman climbed up and rescued him while the kids were visiting. Just to top it off, Boris was booked by the police for speeding and ended up in the cell at the police station. The kids had to bail him out! What a week!!!

Nathan dressed as a policeman for the disco on the last night. He had a wonderful time dancing and even had a partner lined up for the first dance!!

Nathan is losing his teacher next semester as she's going to be a principal at a small school in this district. He helped make this little gift for her.

Notice how quietly Boris is sitting at the moment....wonder how long that will last???

A Share

I saw a gorgeous sketch recently and it inspired me to get in and create this layout. In the end, this layout is nothing like the sketch ...funny how these things happened. It did give my mojo a desperately needed kick start though.

The clouds were an idea of the lovely Taryn and I found a tutorial she shared on making them.

I had borrowed some seashells stamps from Joy, but I just couldn't create the right look with them, so resorted to the real deal. While the photos are of my youngest man playing at Airlie Beach, the shells are just some of the beauties we collected on a beach north of Broome, WA.
