Playtime!

I've had a little play with the challenges at Scrap, Chat 'n' Challenges.

The first challenge was to create a layout using colours that are opposite each other on a colour wheel.

And to create 2 cards using the same colour combination.

The next was a number challenge using predominant colours of pink and blue, as well as a one word title, 2 ribbons, 3 brads and 4 lines of journalling.

Then came a monochromatic scraplift challenge.

A 6 x 12 sketch challenge...I have never done a layout of this size before so that was cool to do!

And also a brown and green card with a stamped and coloured picture.

There is one challenge left and I'm hoping to get it done and Nathan hopes to get the kid's challenges done too.

Paper Piecing

I've had a little play with cutting files I bought from My Scrap Chick and am thrilled with the end result. The little Tooth Fairy was just perfect for a layout after Nathan's loss of yet another tooth! Isn't she cute?

Overnight visitor

The Tooth Fairy is coming to our place again tonight! While eating his lunch, we realized that Dude has lost yet another tooth...but we don't know where it is!? We can only assume that it went down with his lunch...I'm sure the Tooth Fairy will understand. The new tooth is already through so had helped push the old tooth out.

Easter

This morning Nathan finished making his Easter cards for his teachers. Notice that the first card matches the little box full of yummy Easter eggs.

Nathan had made a third card from a cute little bunny booklet, but I forgot all about photographing it before popping it in the mail! Yes Joy, I will make another so you can see it. ;-)

Stepped Box

Today I made this gorgeous little stepped box. This is my trial run on some I plan to make for Nathan to send his teachers Easter eggs in. I have also not added the little 'shelves' on the inside.

The instructions can be found on Terri's blog.

Here's Terri's completed box. Notice that she has 4 little 'shelves' in her box:

The stepped box is very easy to make and easily adaptable to your requirements.

YAY!!!

I have scrapped!!! You don't know how excited I am about this...it must be 2 months since I last created a layout!

This morning I received a birthday card and some gorgeous Kaisercraft Shaken and not Stirred papers from a new friend. The papers were perfect for the photos of the buggy I took recently...and I found myself just itching to get in and create....had to wait until after school was done though.

Martin hates having his buggy referred to as a 'toy' so I couldn't resist!

Stoked!

Recently I submitted 4 photos to the Bureau of Meteorology for consideration for their 2011 calendar. Tonight I received a letter saying 2 of my photos have made it through to the next round!! I am absolutely over the moon about this...fingers crossed!

New 'Toy'

The specialist had warned Martin that as he broke so many ribs at once and with multiple fractures, they will never heal properly and be as strong as they were. Consequently he has bought a Polaris Ranger RZR 'vehicle' to use instead of a motorbike. On Friday he was able to get up to Longreach to pick it up.

He and Alastair went and checked on a mob of sheep yesterday. The paddock was still really wet not only with all the rain but because the grass coverage is so thick, it's really holding the moisture in and not allowing it to dry out. This was a good test for the buggy and it came home covered in mud. They took Nathan for a ride this morning...he was sooo excited! Yep...it has seatbelts too.

There's even a handy little tray on the back. Yesterday they had a 20L bottle of dip to treat any fly-blown sheep they saw.

A Catch

Nathan went "fishing" this afternoon and caught four littlies

He didn't go fishing in the waterhole though, but here:

in a puddle in the middle of the road!

Just goes to show, you never know where you'll find some fish!

Eerie

Last night we received a really heavy downpour making our total for the 24hrs to 9am this morning 43.75mm. But what was really incredible and quite eerie, was the red sky towards the end of the rain! To the west-north-west was a hint of a sunset and it cast the most amazing shade of red over absolutely everything...it really was like looking at the world through a red filter on a camera lens!I didn't take any photos, as I felt they wouldn't have done it justice.

We do continue to enjoy this weather, after all it's dry and droughty for much longer than lush and green.

To my wonderful friends in southern and eastern areas, I really do wish I could send this rain on to you all...heaven knows there is enough to share. I pray that soon, your country and surroundings willl look as lush and green as ours.

Martin is healing, slowly but surely. I can't say that he has been as steady and he should have, but we all have to keep busy in some way. He had another xray last Wednesday and that had to go to the orthopaedic surgeon in Rocky for review. He also had an appointment with a physio in Tambo. While it was too early for her to do anything, she has given Martin an excercise to do when he gets to the 6 weeks stage....and that only 1 1/2 weeks away. He then goes back to see her in 3 weeks.

Rain

Yep...it's still raining around here! I could probably count on only 2 hands, the number of bright sunshiny days we've had this year and it seems that March may not be any different! I took this photo out through our school room window.

Last Wednesday we had a storm of 45.25mm and then another 44.25mm last night and rain on and off again today. We did manage to truck out the sheep we sold a month ago and get the lambs shorn. Luckily, we only lost one day of shearing as the black fly in the lambs was particularly viscious. Their wool is sitting on a truck down at the shearing shed, waiting for the first dry day to get it to town.
